Dr Oz tells us how we can reboot our body to burn more calories then ever before. His guest nutritionist, Haylie Pomroy, says you can lose up to 20 pounds in 28 days. She says the key is to change the food we’re eating every two to three days we can transform a slow metabolism. It’s all about confusing your metabolism so it doesn’t know what happened and it then speeds up.

For the first couple of days of a week, take in as many complex carbs as you want, it will calm your adrenal glands (the glands that secrete the stress hormones.) The purpose of doing this is to lower your stress hormones and nourish the body with B vitamins.

DAY 1 and DAY 2
Purpose: Cool the adrenal stress

Have 1 Cup of Whole Grain Carbs at Every Meal (e.g. steel cut oats, brown rice, wild rice, quinoea.) Example, for breakfast you might have steel cut oatmeal with berries.

Eat 2 High Glycemic Fruit Snacks Each Day. {High Glycemic is 60+ on the Glycemic Index}
Watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, raisins, dates, mangoes, pineapples and papayas.

Add Lime On Top Of Fruit To Lower Inflammation

DAY 3 and DAY 4
Purpose: Burn fat, release fat and build muscle.

Eat proteins and fats, but no carbs. But the proteins must be eaten with alkaline vegetables or the body will have a hard time breaking down the protein into the amino acids the body needs to reduce cravings.

Eat foods high in L-Carnitines to break down the old fat stores in your body.

Do not eat any fruits or grains.

Every Meal – have 4 to 6 ounces of meat and unlimited alkaline veggies (e.g. onions, peppers, spinnach, kale, aspargus, basil.)

You may want to do your own search because lists seem to differ, for example, one list has onions as high and kale and moderate and another list has kale as high and onions as moderate.

Snacks also need to be protein with alkaline veggies (e.g. hard boiled egg, nitrite free turkey bacon, celary with salmon.)

DAY 5, 6 and 7
Purpose: Eat Healthy Fats to Burn Fat – “Fat Loading to Lose Fat.” To nourish and feed the body so it can burn through and enhance the metabolism.

Combine complex carbs, protein and healthy fats into every meal, except lunch… no carbs at lunch.

Breakfast: An egg, spelt tortilla, avocado and beans.
Lunch: Chicken salad with tomatoes, etc on a bed of greens.
Dinner: Shrimp over wild rice, with veggies.
Snacks: Avocado, peanut butter, nuts, celery, cucumber.

The carbs in the evening help with sleep and sleep is also important for metabolism.


1. Oil Pulling – Before you brush your teeth in the morning, but 1 tbsp of sesame oil in your mouth and swish it around good. Keep it in your mouth for 10 minutes while you go about your morning routine. When you spit it out, it should be white and even foamy. That shows the toxins being pulled out. If it’s still yellow, you need to do it longer.

2. Dandelion Greens are a natural laxative. Eat 1 loose handful with your meal. You can saute them.

3. Detox Drink – This drink is strong, brings the heat and fires up your metabolism. Mix 1/2 cup of lemon juice, 1/2 tsp of sea salt and 1 knob of thinly sliced ginger in a glass and let it sit for a couple of days. Drink a little bit of it.


Eating the wrong thing for breakfast can make you cranky later on.

White Bread doesn’t have Vitamin B-6 (the one that keeps you happy)
Fix: Whole grain bread with avocado (both have B-6.)

If you only eat fruit, there’s no magnesium.
Fix: Add oatmeal to the fruit.

White flour and refined sugars (muffins, granola bars, etc)
Fix: Eat foods with omega-3s. E.g. Walnuts on Greek Yogurt


Incorporate certain foods into your diet, based on your body type.
Body Types (Big Middle, Big Bottom, Big Arms.)

Big Middle: Eat foods with Tryptophan, which calms and soothes you.
1 1/2 cup of beans or 3 ounces of salmon, tuna or shrimp or 1 ounce of cacao nibs.

Big Bottom: Eat high-fiber foods.
Apples (with the skin,) raspberries, chia seeds and oatmeal.

Big Arms: Foods that reduce blood sugar.
20 grams a day of Whey Protein Powder.
